Vedrai Vedrai - Music of Luigi Tenco & More

Starting with a selection of beautiful compositions by Italian singer songwriter Luigi Tenco as core of the whole musical structure, this project invites the listener to a voyage into emotions. The repertoire embraces Tenco's intimate tells together with other Italian weel-known singer songwriters (such as Fabrizio De Andrè, Ivano Fossati, Sergio Endrigo and so on) and it blends them with tunes from the American Jazz Songbook. Switching from Italian to English language, with little tastes of Siclian and Neapoletan, this musical trip is completed by original compositions by the young leader of the band. The band features exceptional and well-experienced Jazz musicians such as pianist Jon Davis, drummer Tommy Campbell and bassist Gianluca Renzi. Aiming to present to the audience the true beauty of Italian modern music, and its deep affinity with such an international language as Jazz, Laura Campisi gives her very personal interpretaion of a rich repertoire that will surely touch you from within.

Overseas Quartet

Four musicians, all born in Palermo, Sicily; one musical dialogue. That's "Overseas Quartet", a project that rises from the reborn union of singer Laura Campisi and bassist Gabrio Bevilacqua after the singer moved to New York in 2011. There she meets established drummer and teacher at Berklee College of Music Marcello Pellitteri and the three of them decide to play together. Including well-known pianist Mauro Schiavone, the quartet offers a sophisticated repertoire that ranges from Jazz standards, Italian and American classics to original compositions, introducing to the audience its own unique voice.

   Laura Campisi Double Trio

This is the project Laura is working on for her first official album: a double trio featuring International Jazz stars drummer Gregory Hutchinson and bassist Ameen Saleem, together with Italian bassist Gianluca Renzi and drummer Flavio Li Vigni, plus special guests Vincen Herring on sax and Giovanni Falzone on trumpet.

The project includes Laura's original compositions in English, a few selected jazz standards and some covers revisited (Jeff Buckley, Bjork, Velvet Underground).

" Face & Bass!"

The voice and doublebass duo is a kind of musical encounter Laura always cherished and that accompained her from the beginning of her career in Sicily.

Now she's presenting it to the American audience, together with her dear friend and experienced bassist Ameen Saleem, in a fun, shimmering repertoire. Blending sensuality with irony, intimacy with groove, this duo shows contagious joy and the beauty of a musical dialogue based on mutual listening and true  interplay.

Lalla Into The Garden

"Lalla Into The Garden" is Laura's project as a songwriter. She started it in 2009 in her homeland - Sicily - as a sextet (her voice, Gabriele Giambertone and Giuseppe Rizzo on guitars, Marco Di Fonte on cello, Daniele Tesauro on accordion and Carmelo Graceffa on drums), with whom she recorded the first official Ep. Laura pushed the project on through the years as a trio with ever changing instruments (with guitar and bass, bass and accordion, guitar and percussions) or as a quartet, experimenting different sounds to it. But the core remains the same: Laura's original compositions in Italian, some of which got her to win several international music awards.

 Sicily Revisited

"Sicily Revisited" is a fresh and yet deeply intense musical project created in 2014 by Laura with Alberto Fidone (bass) and Andrea Beneventano (piano). Its main concept is to blend a Sicilian traditional and non-traditional repertoire with the rhythms, vibes and the sound of Jazz, an operation that reveals strong connections between these two words. The album, soon to be released, was recorded live in studio right after the first acclaimed performance of the trio in Taormina, Italy.

 Sing Ballads and Be Happy

A musical form that, under different names, can be found in every kind of musical genre- ancient and modern, Eastern and Western, traditional and cultured- the ballad is the place for love and emotions. Its slow pace gives both musicians and audience time to feel, reflect, and express their inner world, opening up the door to an intense, intimate and dreamy experience. With “Sing Ballads and Be Happy” Laura experiments and plays with the ballad form in its varied nuances as she opens up her heart and soul for a valiant audience to step in. The project has been presented to an international audience both in Italy and in NYC in 2015 and it has featured various instrumentalists such as Jon Davis, Ameen Saleem, Claudio Filippini, Gabrio Bevilacqua, Carmelo Graceffa and Aki Spadaro.
